Local and state law enforcement agencies issued 1,025 summonses during the fourth annual Motorcycle Enforcement Accident Reduction, or M.E.A.R., project. 

Virginia State Police, Hampton Police Division, Newport News Police Department and other agencies coordinated efforts to curb speeding and reckless driving of motorcycles, according to a Newport News news release.    Two drug arrests, two firearms’ arrests and one assault on a police officer were included in the  summonses issued.
