I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel tide gates to be tested
The Virginia Department of Transportation will be conducting a tide gate test at the Interstate 64 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel next weekend.
VDOT has confirmed the routine hour-long test, which it conducts every six months, is scheduled for 5 a.m. Dec. 4. Motorists on the tunnel, in both directions, should expect traffic stops during the tide gate test.
To avoid delays during the testing period, drivers may wish to use the I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel as an alternate route.
