Hampton Police seek public's help in identifying robbery suspect

The Hampton Police Division is asking the public's help to identify a man responsible for a robbery, abduction and an attempted abduction that happened in the Northampton section of the city.

At 11:25 p.m. on Wednesday, a 21-year-old Hampton man was in the 200 block of Marcella Road when the suspect reportedly approached him and forced him into the victim's vehicle after showing a firearm.

The assailant then had the victim drive to the Wells Fargo in the 2000 block of Coliseum Drive and demanded that he withdraw money from the bank's ATM.

The victim was unable to retrieve any money and the suspect had him return the 200 block of Marcella Road, where the man took the victim's cell phone, credit card and car keys and ran away.

At 5:25 a.m. on Thursday, a 51-year-old Philadelphia woman was in the 5100 block of Goldsboro Drive when, according to police, the same man approached her, displayed a firearm and demanded that she get into her vehicle. The woman began honking her horn and kicked the man as she got into her vehicle, and the man ran south toward West Mercury Boulevard.

At 6:28 a.m. on Thursday, a 17-year-old Hampton man was inside the Hardee's in the 900 block of Big Bethel Road when, police say, the man approached him, displayed the firearm and demanded money. The robber took the victim's wallet and ran out of the restaurant.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-7 or 5-foot-8, 160 pounds, age 25 to 35, unshaven and has brown hair. He wore a white T-shirt, black jacket, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a black baseball cap with a white letter P on it.

Anyone with information about the robber is asked to call the Hampton Police Division at 727-6111 or Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Callers to Crime Line remain anonymous and dont appear in court. If such a call results in an arrest, the caller is eligible for a reward up to $1,000.

Tipsters also can text an anonymous tip to the Hampton Police Division by texting the keyword 757HPD and a tip to 847411 (tip411). The anonymous texting is not affiliated with Crime Line.
