Peninsula United Methodist churches come together for the Lenten season
Five Peninsula United Methodist churches are joining together to provide a series of services, based on the hymn Jesus Calls Us O'er The Tumult, with words written by Cecil Frances Alexander during the Lenten season.
All services are open to the public and begin at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the worship.
Locations, times and preachers for the worships:
-- Feb. 26: Parkview United Methodist Church, 912 Briarfield Road, Newport News. Pastor Dwight Hughes will lead the service;
-- March 4: Noland United Methodist Church, 5501 Huntington Ave., Newport News. Pastor John LeGault will lead the service;
-- March 11: St. James United Methodist Church, 1533 W. Queen St., Hampton. Pastor Jenny Day will lead the service;
-- March 18: Trinity United Methodist Church, 228 29th St., Newport News. Pastor Carla Stearns will lead the service; and
-- March 25: First United Methodist Church, 10246 Warwick Blvd., Newport News. Pastor Chuck Root will lead the service.
The series will end with Holy Communion.
