Grace United Preschool is hosting a book drive throughout the month of February to benefit Transitions Family Violence Services.
Children's books brought in to Grace United Preschool this month will be used in the Transitions' children's library. The preschool is hoping to reach a goal of 200 book donations.
"Sometimes, our clients have to leave with only the shirt off of their back; they and their children are lucky to escape," said a Transitions spokesperson. "It is important that these families, especially innocent children, be afforded opportunities to put the pieces of their lives back together. This is where our art and play therapy, and library, come into play."
To participate in the book drive, bring a book suitable for children younger than 11 to Grace United Preschool, located at 1209 Country Club Road, in Newport News.
