Hampton University women's basketball wins home finale against Delaware State
Hampton University women's basketball won its final home game of the season by defeating Delaware State 71-44 Monday, Feb. 20.
Sophomore guard Nicole Hamilton and junior forward Keiara Avant each scored 14 points to lead the Lady Pirates to victory. Avant also added 11 rebounds on the night. Senior guard Chocietta McMillian recorded a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 boards. Tierra Hawkins scored 12 points to lead the Lady Hornets.
According to a press release, the Lady Pirates have recorded 20 straight wins for the third consecutive season since becoming a Division I program. The women’s basketball team improved its record 20-4 and 12-1 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action.
The Lady Pirates next take on Florida A&M for sole possession of first place in the MEAC at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 on the road.
