Langley Speedway to kick off NASCAR Whelen All-American Series
Late Model racing star C.E. Falk will begin his quest for a fourth consecutive Langley Speedway championship Saturday, April 7 in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Pomoco Auto Group Night.
The opening night lineup will feature EZ Auto in Newport News Late Model Stock Cars (100 laps), Larry King Law Super Trucks (Twin 20s), the SativaPets.com UCARs (25 laps), Standard Welding Pro Sixes (30 laps) and the Rhonnda Claiborne Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts (20 laps).
Gates will open at 2 p.m. for afternoon practice rounds. There is a driver's meeting scheduled for 4:15 p.m. and time trials start at 4:30 p.m. The Champ Karters will kick off the evening shortly after 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12.
All military personnel, including veterans, and senior citizens will receive $2 off ticket prices.
Children under the age of 6 are free when accompanied by an adult. There are also family packs available for $25, which includes admission for two adults and two children.
Tickets can be purchased at the speedway office or online at www.langley-speedway.com. The speedway is at 11 Dale Lemonds Drive in Hampton.
There will be 27 events at the Langley Speedway this year. The Late Models will be featured in 19 races.
The Hampton Heat 200, the largest Late Model race of the year, will have more significance to it this season. Langley Speedway has hooked up with South Boston Speedway and Martinsville Speedway to create the Virginia Triple Crown Series.
The first event of the triple crown took place on March 10 in Danville. Falk won the race. The Hampton Heat 200 is the second race of the event and the Martinsville race will take place on Oct. 21.
Other highlights of the season include the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East on June 23 and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour on Sept. 1.
Five other divisions will open their seasons April 14.
The Pepsi Night lineup will feature KeesVacations.com Modfieds (Twin 25s), Pepsi Grand Stocks (40 laps), Heritage Motor Co. Super Streets (40 laps), Cycle City Corp. INEX Legends (25 laps) and Xtreme Mechanical INEX Bandoleros (20 laps).
