Hampton's city manager won't propose property tax increases in upcoming budget
Hampton City Manager Mary Bunting announced that property and personal property tax rates will not increase in the upcoming budget.
The announcement was given Wednesday, April 11 as part of a preview of key points for her recommended budget during a City Council work session.
Citywide, the assessed values of homes dropped an average of 6 percent, meaning that homeowners will pay less in taxes next year, if the budget is adopted.
Copies of the proposed budget are posted at www.hampton.gov.
Public hearings on the budget will be held at 7 p.m. April 25 and May 2.
The final budget vote takes place May 9.
