Hampton man is suspect in Old Point Bank robbery

A Hampton man has been accused of the May 17 robbery of a local bank.

Eric Dionne Baker, 43, of the first block of Loch Circle, Hampton, was charged with robbery and  use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Baker was being held at the Hampton City Jail.

According to the Hampton Police Division, at 12:38 p.m. May 17, a suspect walked into Old Point National Bank in the 300 block of Woodland Road. The suspect implied that he was armed and demanded money, Hampton police said. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the scene in a gray 2004 Cadillac.

Witnesses were able to provide police with a detailed description of the car and officers spotted the vehicle at Armistead Avenue and Heffelfinger Street less than 15 minutes later. Baker, who was a passenger in the car, was arrested without incident. Police said that the driver of the car was not involved in the robbery and will not be charged.
