Hampton boy sets record in 2012 Yorktown Freedom Run Memorial Day 5K
The following runners won awards at the 2012 Yorktown Freedom Run Memorial Day 5K, which took place Monday, May 28 at Grafton High School in Yorktown:
Williamsburg resident John Piggott, 47, won first overall with a time of 17 minutes, 18 seconds. Gregory Dawson, 46, also of Williamsburg, won second overall with a time of 17:54. as well as firstin the master master.
The first female finisher was Williamsburg resident Jennifer Quarles, 40, with a time of 19:09. Following her was 17-year-old Newport News resident Rachel Rabbit, who finished with a time of 20:09. Both Quarles and Rabbit set records in their age category.
The only record set in a men's age group was by 10-year-old Jensen Morales, of Hampton, with a time of 21:20.
