Hampton police investigate crash that killed cyclist at Mallory Street and Shelton Road

Hampton police are investigating a crash involving a cyclist and a 2005 Dodge Caravan at North Mallory Street and Shelton Road that happened early Monday, July 9, according to a press release.

At 5:40 a.m. that Monday, the Hampton Police Communications received a w911 call regarding the crash.

A police investigation showed that the cyclist and the van were traveling south on Mallory Street when the van struck the rear of the bicycle, according to the release.

The cyclist, John C. Little, who was 39 and lived on Kingsview Court in Hampton, was taken to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries and died there shortly before midnight Thursday, July 12.

The Hampton Police Division’s Fatal Crash Team in investigating the collision. So far, police have filed no charges.
