City of Hampton seeks new planning commissioner
The Hampton City Council is currently seeking a Hampton resident to serve on the its Planning Commission, a seven-member group responsible for reviewing long-term plans and settling land use and zoning matters.
The Planning Commission prepares the city's comprehensive plan, recommends ordinances and policies to implement the comprehensive plan, and reviews conditional use permits and applications for changes to zoning districts.
Planning Commission applicants must have demonstrated involvement in the community. Previous experience with another city board or commission as well as graduation from the Neighborhood College is recommended.
Applicants with expertise in the following areas are preferred: land use law, environmental sciences, transportation, engineering, real estate, finance and banking, facilities planning and management, geography, forecasting, modeling and demographics, and social sciences.
Interested citizens are encouraged to submit a resume to Katherine Glass, clerk of the Hampton City Council, 22 Lincoln St., Hampton, VA 23669. Resumes must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8.
