Beautification Committee names Yard of the Month winners for July
The Hampton Clean City Commission's Beautification Committee announced three winners in its Yard of the Month program for July.
The group recognized Bertram and Mary Hardnett, who live on Aspenwood Drive; Richard and Jeannette Parsell, who live on Osage Lane; and Guy Shelton, who lives on Markham Drive. To see descriptions and photos of the winning yards, visit the Hampton Clean City Commission's Facebook site.
The contest is sponsored by Bloxom's Nursery, Countryside Gardens, McDonald Garden Center and Mercury Mulch.
Residents who see a beautiful yard in Hampton and want to recognize the owner's efforts, are encouraged to nominate the yard in the Yards Are Really Distinctive Showplaces contest. To nominate a yard, go to hampton.gov/hccc/yards, send an email to cfharris@hampton.gov or call 757-727-1130.
Nominees will be sent a nomination package to complete. If they respond, judges — Shirley Boyd, Beverly Doyer, Marty Roaseau, Marie Smith, Loye Spencer, Marty Tennille and Anne Tucker — will visit during the next judging cycle.
