Hampton Clean City Commission to host workshop
Hampton Clean City Commission will host a Schoolyard Habitat Workshop called Planning and Using an Outdoor Classroom from 8:30 a.m 3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3.
The workshop, open to teachers from all grade levels and subject areas in the Hampton Roads area, will focus on the basic design elements and techniques of establishing a wildlife habitat on school property that will also function as an outdoor classroom.
Teachers will learn ways to connect instructional objectives for math, science and language arts with inquiry-based, outdoor field investigations.
Attendees will receive seven hours recertification credit and a Homes for Wildlife Planning guide and a 20/20 Projects and Activities guide. All materials will be provided by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
The workshop will be held at the Clean City Commission Office, located at 1296 Thomas St., in Hampton.
There is no fee to attend the event, but registration by Tuesday, July 31 is required.
