Hampton native Deedra Kirkland graduates basic combat training
Pvt. Deedra N. Kirkland has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
During her training, Kirkland studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values. She received extensive instruction in a variety of skill categories, including basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare, bayonet training, basic first aid and armed and unarmed combat, among others.
Kirkland graduated from Hampton High School in 2001. She is the goddaughter of Jada and Lonnie Davis, of Belmont, N.C.
